Mermaid

Crying like an angel,

With tears made out of glass,

She slipped under the water,

And went where none might pass.

She sang her haunting melody,

And with a frozen breath,

She swam beneath the water,

Where all was cold as death.

I met her underwater,

With the ribbons in her hair,

And kissed her frail fingers,

Completely unaware,

That here I’ll dwell within the deep,

And solitude of shade,

And with her I shall always stay.

The pearl-eyed mermaid.
